This problem has occurred from the very beginning of this particular vehicle, though butler Chrysler believed that they had corrected the problem when we purchased it. The manufacturer is aware of the problem but has not chsen to fix the problem until the consumer brings the vehicle in for repair. The failure and current mileages were 20,000. The vehicle was not repaired. The flasher unit itself is not in the tail light housing. I've been waiting for my source for wiring diagrams to open up again to confirm this but it looks like it may take a while. One cool, damp morning or evening or whatever and we have no interior lights or dash illumination.
When its above 90 degrees my dash lights work, otherwise not. I came across someone saying that they replaced the 20A fuse for the Hazard Lights. We have contacted chyrsler customer service, who has opened a corporate file 660213 , but have no other information from them. I'd work on ck'ing that doors harness by opening and closing the door while observing your dash to see if any changes are seen. The vehicle is awaiting repairs.
The entire dash controls will not work. While I had the problem I worked around it with mini flashlight from dollar store to shine on the gauges at night. No other problems, van runs fine, 70K Miles. It is supposed to be hot this week so maybe they will start working for me again. The electrical person said it's hard to fix some thing that is not broken.
The vehicle was able to restart. Back break lights are not working. Not the same vintage but a little insight. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. If not - a small box of fuses can be purchased for a few dollars.
Check coolant levels before proceeding with any repairs. Its totally temperature related for my issue. It was a simple job and I actually swapped out a working cluster from a 2010 Caravan. The service man said he didn't know what was wrong with the vehicle. About a year ago this happened and then stopped. I think that we should be able to figure this out collectively with enough examples.
No remedy as of yet. The liftgate gives a hard time latching when using keypad. So last week after my wife returned from a 5hr trip getting pulled over for driving too slow, hee hee:laughing: I finally get the opportunity to really troubleshoot. The steering gear and egr valve were replaced. Also the front lights only come on when the car is switched on.
Here we are a month and a half later, and its doing the same thing again! Replaced the fuse and back in busines. She said that sometimes she has to pull off the road and turn the vehicle off to get the lights to go off, and sometimes they will not start. Whole instrument panel goes completely out, no light, wipers going crazy, no signal, light going on and off. I am happy I sold it but would have rather fixed the problem. Everything worked in the evening, and was lost the next morning.
The driver began to notice that all of the gauges on the instrument panel would drop to zero intermittently. Consumer is requesting monetary reimbursement for expenses. Aleon, thank you for your update. The vehicle continued to stall while driving at any speed but without warning. They even had a special price to repair this fault.
