I can be at a stop sign and the gage shows 40mph. Price listed is for the gauge face only - gauge cluster is not included. I wish there was a recall for this as it seems to have happened to more than a few cavaliers. Seems the whole cluster is bad. The current and failure mileages were 45294. If you overlook a few things. It is extremely easy to use and makes the job a snap.
The car has only 75,000 miles. And would you admit to ignoring the all the complaints about the same things and doing nothing about it? The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the speedometer failed and would only provide a reading of zero. Standard gauge face colors for the Chevy Cavalier are white, black or silver. The temperature gauge also malfunctioned. It caused the speedometer needle to get stuck on the heat gauge needle and read that I was only going 20mph when I know I was going faster than that. My first complaint is in regard to the transmission fluid. He knew what the problem was as I described it. While it was over 110 if you started the car the fuel gauge would turn towards the temp gauge.
Occasionally the instrument cluster moved rapidly and registers 0. Thanks so much for the info, took all the mystery out of it. The vehicle was purchased with 30,000 miles. Now the heat gauge is constantly reading incorrectly and today turned around so far, it wasn't even reading the numbers and got hung up on the speedometer gauge. Shut my car off and it will stay on 70 or whatever and keep going higher each time I drive. The date I listed is an approx date. Chevy should have a recall if someone freaks out on a highway alot of people could really get hurt or even killed.
So to this point, you should have your Instrument Cluster in your hot little hands. These are the spots you will need to work on. They need to be sticking out through the holes to solder them in place. Put the needle on the shaft at the 12 o'clock position and push it on. Honestly I am kind of scared to drive this car with my family in it due to chevy not wanting to replace this widely known problem, I greatly appreciate you taking your time for reading this. I can be going down the interstate and it shows 30 mph. Now the speedometer doesn't move at all. They also furnish a very nice detailed explanation of how to remove the dashboard on the site. I try to buy American but realize now why some people go the other route. I am not sure how much this is going to cost, but it obviously is a continuous problem for most 2005 chevy Cavalier owners, and chevy should take responsibility!.
It started with the fuel gauge not reading correctly. It has been out for over a year now. Eventually made it all the way over to where it would hit my speedometer, and is now pointing straight down. My father in law is an expert mechanic. . I make sure the gas is topped up every day just to be on the safe side.
I can't complain too much. This has been happening for a year intermittently. Occasionally it will seem to be about accurate. If I turn the ignition off and on several times I can get it to go back to normal a little at a time but then it'll just do it again tomorrow. It's a bit scary, I know, but it works just as I've written it. Said its called a level sensor and its either on or in the gas tank.
Possibly they are all related. Not fair at all, this should be a recall by gm because of the safety issue. Just follow the instructions with the Iron. The instructions I followed were included with the motors I got on Ebay. This is a real problem, and should be recalled.
